2022 Youth Double Hander Improvers (RYA Stage 4)

This is an RYA Stage 4 course for age 11 to 15 students

• Stage 4 builds on the skills learnt in single handed dinghies at Stage 3 to apply them to double handed dinghies and their requirements for teamwork as helm or crew. Additional theory including meteorology is also covered.

Typically, Cadets are used for Stage 4

Pre-requisites:

• Age 11 to 15 inclusive.
• Student has completed an RYA Stage 3 course and sails at RYA Stage 3 standard
• Student must also have had experience sailing in a "tippy" boat. I.e. experience limited to an Optimist dinghy is not sufficient.
• Consider doing the Youth Single Hander Improvers course instead if student has no experience in a "tippy" boat.
