2021 LateSummer Optimists RYA Stage 2 & 3

Course: RYA Stages 2&3 (Young Sailors Start Sailing Scheme)

Age Group: 8 to 10 year olds

Boat: Optimist single-handed dinghy

Requirements: Youngsters should have attained RYA Stage 2

Duration: 4 weekdays Cost £190 (Frensham member): £260 (non-member)

Course description: The Stage 2&3 course is for improvers and includes a short revision of Stage 2 (for the benefit of those who have not sailed much throughout the year) followed by Stage 3. By the end of Stage 3, they will have the skills and understanding to consider themselves a sailor, rather than a beginner.

RYA Scheme: At Frensham we teach all four stages of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. Stages 1, 2 and 3 are taken in single-handed dinghies (Optimists for 8-10 year olds and Toppers for 10-14 year olds). Stage 4 requires a two-handed dinghy (a Cadet or Feva) for 10-14 year olds.

We also teach up to Level 3 of the Adult RYA National Sailing Scheme.
